We are a DJ collective championing women and minority genders.
She They Press Play brings nearly 30 years of combined experience to the decks. As a collective, they are dedicated to championing women and gender minority DJs, with a focus on the alternative DJ scene. Their mission is to promote fairer pay, amplify diverse voices, foster collaboration over competition, and challenge the status quo to create better, more inclusive workspaces - both behind the booth and beyond.
Launched in 2024, the collective made an impact right away, debuting at a Metros Cardiff takeover before making waves at Download Festival. In the latter half of the year, they expanded their reach with the launch of a podcast aimed at educating aspiring DJs.
In 2025 the collective went from strength to strength: curating the guest area DJs for Slam Dunk North & South, a return to Download festival and a debut at ArcTanGent.
She They Press Play is redefining the DJ landscape, one set - and one conversation - at a time.

She They Press Play emerged from a shared recognition of the systemic inequalities present in our working environments within the music industry.
Faced with disparities in pay, unsafe working environments, and being booked less frequently, a group of like-minded individuals united with a common purpose: to instigate change. Not content with the limited opportunities afforded to us, we decided to pave our own path. Motivated by a desire for fairness and inclusivity, our collective was born out of the necessity to challenge the status quo and advocate for equitable treatment for all DJs, regardless of gender identity.
Together, we embarked on a journey to create a platform where women and gender minorities could not only thrive but also lead the way towards a more just and supportive industry. Our founding story serves as a testament to the power of collective action and the unwavering commitment to creating a better future for all.
